Olugbenga is the typical definition of a job hopper. The 39-year-old has held weighty positions in over 4 banks, alongside tech giants like Google and PayPal.  

His career started in the fintech sector as an application developer for British Telecom Professional Services, where he worked for a year before landing a job at PayPal in 2004.  

From there, he joined Guarantee Trust Bank (DTB), where one of his jobs was to provide enterprise Infrastructure solutions. He then moved on to Standard Bank Nigeria, where he worked as a developer and technology product manager.  

By then, his resume was ripe enough to get him a job at Google Wallet, where he worked as a project manager before moving on to head Sterling Bank’s financial services and later digital innovation at Access Bank.  

In 2016, he launched Flutterwave, intending to create a single payment system that could be used across multiple African countries.  

His venture was so successful that within 4 years of starting, the company had expanded to 15 countries.  

Flutterwave has since partnered with tech giants like Microsoft, Alibaba, Uber, and Netflix, processing over $23 billion worth of transactions according to Forbes.  

Olugbenga Agboola Scandals 

Like many successful pan-African entrepreneurs, Olugbenga’s success has been dogged by controversy, with his company, Fluttewave, receiving a flurry of damaging allegations.  

According to CNN, the company’s management has been accused of workplace bullying, sexual harassment, money laundering, and breach of employees’ contracts, among other scandals.
