In addition to Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), the Dangote refinery has commenced the export of diesel fuel to various African countries, with exports experiencing a notable surge in May, reaching nearly 100,000 barrels per day.

Furthermore, there has been a rise in the export of aviation fuel from the refinery.

Aliko Dangote, the chairman of the Dangote Group, stated at the commencement of petrol production in September that the refinery is well-equipped to supply both local and regional markets with petrol, diesel, and other products, including polypropylene.

“This Refinery will change Nigeria and Africa’s Oil and Gas Industry dynamics. Meeting the demands of the Sub-Saharan African region. We have good petrol that guarantees the engines of vehicles last longer as the quality matches global standards,” Dangote noted.

Ghana has recently declared its plan to procure fuel from the Dangote Refinery.

Mustapha Abdul-Hamid, the chairman of Ghana’s National Petroleum Authority, disclosed this information during the OTL Africa Downstream Oil Conference held in Lagos, indicating that this arrangement could potentially save Ghana around $400 million each month on fuel imports from Europe.

At present, there are ongoing pricing disputes between Dangote Refinery and Nigerian petroleum marketers, who have accused the refinery of imposing excessively high petrol prices.

Additionally, these marketers have expressed a preference for importing petrol instead of obtaining it from Dangote Refinery due to these pricing concerns.
