Naguib Sawiris Success Journey
Naguib Sawiris was born on June 17, 1954, into a prominent Egyptian business family.
His father, Onsi Sawiris, founded Orascom Construction Industries, which laid the groundwork for Naguib’s future endeavors.
With an initial capital of 5,000 EGP, Sawiris quickly turned this investment into $250,000 within two years. This early success convinced his father to partner with him in business ventures.
In 1997, Sawiris founded Orascom Telecom Holding (OTH), which became one of the largest telecommunications companies in the Middle East and Africa. He was instrumental in launching Egypt’s first mobile phone network, Mobinil.

In 2005, he made a bold move by acquiring Wind Telecomunicazioni, Italy’s third-largest mobile operator, financing the deal with half of his net worth.
In 2011, he sold Orascom Telecom to the Russian telecom firm VimpelCom (now Veon) in a multibillion-dollar transaction.
He later founded La Mancha Holding, a private natural resource investment vehicle, which holds stakes in several gold mining companies
