Patrice Motsepe is a prominent South African businessman and football administrator, known for setting the record as the first black African Billionaire in 2008.  

Business Insider Africa describes him as a serial investor with several fingers in the financial pie of the South African economy.

Motsepe has an estimated net worth of $2.8 Billion, which makes him the fourth richest person in South Africa according to Statistica.

In 2017, Forbes recognized him as one of the 100 greatest business minds in the world. His wealth is comprised of direct ownership of the following companies: 

  • African Rainbow Minerals (ARM): A diversified mining company with interests in iron, coal, copper, gold, and platinum. 
  • Mamelodi Sundowns Football Club: A successful football club in South Africa. 
  • Blue Bulls Rugby Franchise: A prominent rugby team in South Africa

What property does Patrice Motsepe own?  

Aside from his companies, Motsepe owns several luxurious properties across South Africa.  

For instance, he owns a Bishopscourt Mansion located in the high-class, leafy suburbs of Bishopscourt, Cape Town.

The mansion covers a 12,000-square-meter plot and includes six large bedrooms, a 24-seater dining hall, entertainment rooms, a wine cellar, an indoor gym, multiple swimming pools, a tennis court, a billiard room, and a 10-car garage. 

He also owns a 20% stake in the Val de Vie Estate, which he acquired in 2016.  The estate, which is located near Paarl, is known for its horse farms, multiple golf courses, luxury restaurants, high-end wineries, and wellness centers. 

Aside from these properties, he owns a Hidden Valley winery located near Stellenbosch, South Africa.

According to Business Insider Africa, Motsepe acquired the winery for between R100 million (approximately $5.5 million) and R120 million (around $7.9 million) in early 2022. 

The property spans 28 hectares, with vineyards planted primarily with Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Sauvignon Blanc.  

Historically, the farm has produced various wines including Sauvignon Blanc and Merlot

Patrice Motsepe owns several luxury items that reflect his affluent lifestyle.  

His car collection features a Bentley Continental GT, a Mercedes-Benz S65 AMG, a Rolls-Royce Phantom, a Lamborghini Aventador, and a BMW 760 Li.
