The school, which opened in 1992, was one of the first private institutions in Kenya, offering both the 8-4-4 and IGCSE curricula.

Notable alumni include singer Sanaipei Tande, 2015 Miss Kenya Runner-Up Wendy Mueni, and Mindi Sarro.

Addressing gender disparities

Recognizing the gender gap in technology and science education, Ndarua was determined to create a space where women could access higher education in these critical fields.

This vision culminated in the founding of Kiriri Women’s University in 2002.

The university began offering diploma and bachelor’s degree programs in diverse fields, including Mathematics, Computer Science, Psychology, and Business Administration.

Today, the university serves over 1,500 students.

Legacy

In addition to his work in education, Ndarua was the founder of Ndangeruando Investments, showcasing his entrepreneurial spirit and commitment to creating opportunities for others.

His impact continues to be felt, as Kiriri Women’s University remains a symbol of empowerment for women across Kenya and beyond.

Ndarua passed away on October 22, 2020 at the Nairobi Hospital.

Through his pioneering efforts, he has left an indelible mark on the educational landscape, inspiring future generations of women to reach for their dreams and achieve their full potential.
