Maurice Toroitich has been appointed as the Managing Director of NCBA Bank Rwanda, marking his return to the banking sector after a two-year hiatus.
He is recognised for his pioneering work as the founding CEO of KCB Bank Rwanda, where he was instrumental in shaping the bank’s market presence and operational foundation.
“Maurice’s track record speaks volumes. He joins us at a time when we are deepening our efforts in corporate banking and expanding our retail footprint.

But who is Toroitich?
Education
Toroitich holds an MBA from Strathmore University and a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Nairobi.
He is also a Certified Public Accountant and an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Bankers.
Additionally, Toroitich is a certified Executive Coach, emphasizing his commitment to empowering teams and fostering excellence in leadership.
Early career
Toroitich began his career at Stanbic Bank Kenya, where he spent 15 years in various senior roles within Corporate Banking.
During this time, he managed client relationships, developed banking products, and led teams to drive business growth.
After his successful tenure at Stanbic Bank, Toroitich took on the challenge of establishing KCB Bank in Rwanda as its founding CEO.
In this role, he was instrumental in setting up the bank’s operations, building a robust team, and creating a strong market presence.
Later career
Following his time at KCB, Toroitich became the Managing Director of BPR (Banque Populaire du Rwanda).
In this position, he focused on enhancing the bank’s services and expanding its reach.
Under his guidance, BPR implemented innovative banking solutions aimed at increasing financial inclusion among Rwandans, reflecting his commitment to making banking accessible to all.
Currently, Toroitich serves as the Managing Director of NCBA Bank Rwanda.
In this role, he oversees the bank’s operations and aims to broaden its corporate and retail banking offerings.
Awards
Notably, during his tenure as Managing Director of BPR Bank Rwanda, the bank was recognized with the “Best Bank” award at the Banker Africa 2017 awards for the East African region.
In addition to this recognition, Toroitich has been awarded the Top 100 FIRE Awards for financial reporting and was named one of the Most Promising Entrepreneurs.
His expertise as a Certified Public Accountant and an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Bankers further solidifies his standing as a respected leader in the industry.
