Edha began his business career at just 19, initially importing bulk oil under the Camel Oil brand.

He has since expanded the company’s portfolio to include cement, real estate, and transportation, significantly contributing to its growth into a billion-dollar enterprise.

Edha gained recognition as the African Young Business Leader of the Year in 2015.

Amsons Group’s acquisition of Bamburi Cement

Amsons Group is in the process of acquiring Bamburi Cement, a significant move aimed at expanding its footprint in the East African cement market.

In July 2024, Amsons made a binding offer of Ksh 23.9 billion ($185.27 million) for a 100% stake in Bamburi through its subsidiary, Amsons Industries (K) Ltd.

Recently, the acquisition received crucial regulatory approvals from the COMESA Competition Commission and Tanzanian authorities, confirming it poses no competition risks.

This acquisition marks one of the largest investment deals in East Africa, enhancing Amsons’ production capacity and market presence.

Bamburi Cement, currently majority-owned by Holcim, has an annual production capacity of 3.2 million tonnes, and the deal represents a strategic step for Amsons to deepen its investments in Kenya.

On December 4, 2024, Capital Markets Authority (CMA) announced that Savannah Clinker Limited, a Kenyan company, has withdrawn its offer for acquisition of Bamburi Cement, noting that Amsons Group’s bid remains valid.
